History & Sights
Until 1803 the area belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Freising, which left Birkeneck and Erching palaces. In 1825 Baron Theodor von Hallberg-Broich bought Birkeneck, drained the moor and founded the village, which became independent in 1831. Since the airport opened in 1992, Hallbergmoos has become a popular place to live and work, with many hotels.
